THE HISTORY
D.A.T.E. ist das Akronym der Namen der vier jungen Gründer – Damiano, Alessandro, Tommaso und Emiliano. Im Jahr 2005 trafen sie sich in London, wo sie so unzufrieden mit ihren Jobs waren, dass sie sich in das ehrgeizige Projekt stürzten, eine eigene Sneaker-Kollektion zu entwerfen.
Sie kauften hier und da alte Maschinen auf, schufen in der Garage von Emi eine Werkstatt und trafen sich dort jeden Tag nach Feierabend – ihre Berufe wollten sie vorerst noch nicht aufgeben. Im Januar 2006 erhielten sie Dank eines Freundes die Möglichkeit, sich als Gast auf einem Stand bei der Pitti Immagine Uomo zu präsentieren. Mit ihrem handwerklichen Gespür bezauberten sie die Öffentlichkeit und verkauften in nur drei Tagen mehr als 8.000 Paare. Was für ein Erfolg!
THE HISTORY
D.A.T.E. is simply the acronym of the names of the four young founders – Damiano, Alessandro, Tommaso and Emiliano. In 2005, the four of them met up in London and there, feeling unsatisfied by their jobs, decided to throw themselves into the ambitious project of creating their own range of sneakers.
Picking up old machinery here and there, they created a crude and impromptu workshop in Emi’s garage and met up there every evening after work – obviously not being able to give up their day jobs. In January 2006, thanks to a favor from a friend, they obtained an invitation to display as guests on a stand at Pitti Immagine Uomo, displaying their collection in a small space. Thanks to their craftsman’s feel, the first D.A.T.E. charmed the public and sold more than 8,000 pairs in just three days. What a success!
